Hello,
some of people suffer from problem when they have fully discharged the phone. With completely dead battery sometimes the device does not want to start charging.
First of all, you need a good quality wall charger. Plug the phone and wait at least couple of minutes hours to charge the phone.
To boot up the phone you need to use this simple trick:
Plug phone to charger and hold the power button for 18 or more seconds. After that the battery should start recharging.
I tried doing this and it didn't work. I had just received a brand new moto-g and unfortunately the batteries ran out by the time i got home. I tried plugging it in and it showed now sign of life. I tried plugging it in and left it over night and still no signs of life in the morning. So then I plugged it in and held down the power button for more than 18seconds and still. no life. Any ideas as to why this is the case?
ReplyDeleteLeave it in charger for like 10 minutes and try turning it on with power pressed for even more time. You could also check this thread:
Deletehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554976
Hold the volume down button then hold the power button continue holding them for 2 minutes then let go an a reboot screen will pop up then press volume up and your moto g should power up
DeleteNot working. Alternative ?

ReplyDeleteTheir appears to be an oversight in the Moto G charging mechanism.
ReplyDeleteThe phone only seem to be able to pull a full charge current if the phone is on and can negotiate a high current supply from the PC or Wall charger. If the phone is off, this does not happen and the phone does not charge.
I implement the High charge current mode manually by soildering a 1K8 resistor between the USB +5Vdc line (Red wire) and the two Data lines (White and Green wires). Once plugged in with the mod the phone started charging instantly. The charge current seems to be regulated at 1100mA. The USB Default current is only 100-200mA
That could explain why good wall-chargers can charge phone which is off.
Deletemy moto g went dead when the battry is about 10%.
ReplyDeleteit just 2 days i hv ordrd this from flipkart.
can anyone please give me solution
Your battery is propably dead. Try connecting it to a good wall-charger and leave it for couple of hours. Then follow the tips.
DeleteHey Rahul, I got my Moto X from Flipkart recently and the same thing happened. It's JUST NOT turning on no matter what I do and however long I leave it to charge.
DeleteWhat did you end up doing btw?
Hi... My Moto G died day before yest. I kept it untouched yesterday.(saw from one of the forums) I plugged it to my laptop and the notification LED light started blinking for few times and then when I pressed the power button it displayed a battery sign with white border. I thought it would charge and left the phone. But when checked after few hours it still wasn't alive. I have now plugged it to my HTC wall chrager (Output - 5V / 1A). I don't see any notification LEd blinking now but when i press the power button i see the white bordered battery sign. Am I on the right track. Will this charge up ? Am so disappointed right now.
ReplyDeletethank you dude, it works for me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks alot it is working for me now... thanks a ton... happy again :):):):)

Deleteplease help me get my moto g back alive it just died ive had it on charge over night and still nothing ive held the power button down for more than 18 sec. nothing please help.
ReplyDelete1) Plug it into the charger
Delete2) Hold the VOL DOWN key
3) While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
4) Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
5) After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
6) The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
7) Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
Thank you! wow! this really works! I was just begining to think of going to the service centre. Thanks a lot Sir for this wonderful help. My phone is charging now once again! What a relief!

ReplyDeleteHey guys, I know this comment is a month late, but I could really use some help. I tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds, and I also tried holding the power button and volume down button for over two minutes. Neither helped. My phone has now been charging for a good six hours.... but still nothing. If someone knows another method that could help, please let me know.
ReplyDeleteYea I'm having the same issue here. Have tried holding the buttons down for 2 min+and also 3-A wall charger. .. white led blinks but nothing else. .. any other ideas? Might be time for a trip to motorola me thinks.
ReplyDeleteMy phone goes from 100% to dead in 20min. It literally goes from around 90% to red flashing exclamation in one second. I've charged my phone when completely drained, on and off and overnight but nothing is working. I don't have a CPU right now either. Any ideas anyone.
ReplyDeleteNormally coupl of hours of charging should help. Unfortunately such drains happen on Moto G... Do backup of your files and do a factory reset. Then I'd consider sending the phone to warranty repair.

ReplyDeletemy "moto g" is two weeks old. to be honest I loved it up until this point. last night it went dead and shut off. I placed it on the charger that came with the phone overnight, I woke up an it was burning hot. I cooled it off by setting it in front of my fan for a while, tried turning it on (unsuccessful) I tried a 1A adapter and a thick usb cable. also tried through my laptop. all that happens is the LED light stays on while plugged in. BUT WONT TURN ON! I've tried a lot of things such as hold the power button for 20 secs 2 min 5 min and nothing. I also tried VOL DOWN then power for 2 min as well as for 5 min. again nothing. this is very frustrating because not only like I said it's only two weeks old but I NEED MY PHONE! !

ReplyDeleteif phone is not charging after completely discharging, then, press and hold power and volume button for approx 30 sec. Bootloader screen will appear. navigate to power off using volume button. press power off. Do all above steps while charger is plugged in. Now press and hold power button. A white light will appear at upper speakers. keep charger plugged in for another 10 mins. Your phone will auto restart and will continue charging
