How to Install CWM/TWRP - custom recovery on Moto G

In this quick tutorial I will show you to install Custom Recovery on Motorola Moto G. It gives you many options including backup of whole system! Remember that you need unlocked bootloader in order to install any other recoveries than stock!

DISCLAIMER: You flash the recovery ROM on your own risk! Since now, your warranty may be void!

1. Install Motorola Moto G Drivers:

2. Install ADB (I recommend light version compiled by shimp208):

3. Download Fastboot

4. Download Recovery and place it in same folder as Fastboot files:
a) CWM Recovery:
b) TWRP Recovery


Installing CWM/TWRP:

1. Make sure you have USB Debbuging enabled:

2. Open the folder where are placed Fastboot and Recovery files and launch Command Prompt by holding shift and right clicking in free space. From the contect menu choose "Open Command Window Here". 

The other way is to open Command Prompt is holding windows logo on keyboard + R. Type cmd and hit enter. Then navigate to recovery's folder.

3. Boot into fastboot by writing:
adb reboot-bootloader

4. After the phone boots into fastboot type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

5. Reboot the phone and you are done.

Known bugs:
So far on TWRP touchscreen is buggy...


  1. i Get an error Mismatch partition size

    1. When? At the point when you are about to install custom recovery? Check if it's not corrupted - redownload it.

    2. i already had this installed but after the latest upgrade CWM dissapeared and when i am trying to reinstall it i get this error message , i already redownlaoded it both touch and not touch but same issue

  2. I am seeing the same issue.. Trying to flash the recovery.img to moto g, I see mismatched partition error.. Any ideas??
