Sometimes Windows cannot see the Moto G. The problem is that the system is unable to install the driver properly.

Solution for the Windows XP(posted in comments by Hemant Sharma):
1) You might still be running windows media player 9, we don't care about it so we do not update it, please install windows media player 11 and reboot the PC
2) connect your phone with usb, this time it will ask for installing moto g drivers, do it
3) if it doesn't, then, goto device manager and find you moto g, as XT1033 with yellow icon, right click on it, properties and then update drivers
4) disconnect and reconnect the usb cable with phone
voila, it works now
Solution for Vista, 7 and 8:
0) Unplug the phone from PC
1) Uninstall all Motorola Drivers
2) Uninstall the USB drivers concerning the Moto G using this tool:

BE CAREFUL! Uninstall only drivers concerning Moto G - not anything else. If you'll uninstall the Keyboard/Mouse you'll have problems to get it working again
